William E. Prentice Star Council 1429 received the “Double Star” Star Council award, the international organization’s top award, for its overall excellence in the areas of membership and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. Councils that attain Star Council status and achieve 200 percent of their net gain goal receive the Double Star Council Award.

Instituted over 100 years ago, Star Council 1429 has raised funds for several organizations and charities, including the St. Patrick’s Catholic High School, Inn of the Good Shepherd, St. Vincent de Paul, Bluewater Health, local churches and the Arthritis Society. Members are also involved in activities such as Irish Miracle and Cyclone Aid, poster and sports competitions and scholarships.
