Yet another Dave Pirt special, the Annual Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest. Seen below are the winning creations from students of Sacred Heart and Gregory Hogan elementary schools. These have been forwarded for competition at the next level.
Also pictured here are Dave’s family members and Chris Sanchez who helped judge the hundreds of submissions from the students.
A Dave Pirt [Financial Secretary] initiative, for the 2nd year in a row, resulted in over $1,000 being raised toward Council 1429’s support for the most recent Habitat for Humanity build. Furthermore, fellow knights contributed man-hours on the build days itself. Not seen in the pictures is Dave himself (obviously, the cameraman) and who also collected the pledges and made a large one himself.
Council 1429 would like to thank all those who helped make this event yet another success. To all those who supported the seminarians by buying tickets, and had a great time with family, kids and friends, we do hope you come out again. We were encouraged to see that the costume competition, games, music and dancing were enjoyed by all. Thank you to Fr Savel, Fr Bedard, Fr Eboh and the seminarians who made the evening special by their presence. Thanks to our team of volunteer brother knights, their wives and families for their support and for keeping everything running smoothly. A special thanks to our District Deputy, John Ramsey and Fraternal Advisor, Dan Gimpel whose continued help and support is very much appreciated. Besides lively music by DJ Greg Jones, we were very blessed to be entertained with a magnificent violin performance by an award-winning daughter of one of our brother Knights. We are pleased to be able to support the studies of two seminarians through this event and we look forward to your continued support at future events and endeavors.
Council 1429 pitches in with parishioners of St. Joseph church. The grounds around the church are being prepared for a landscaping project to include flower beds, new drainage and a sprinkler system. St Joe’s is one of 4 Sarnia parishes that Council 1429 is affiliated with. Thanks to Deputy Grand Knight Eric, his wife Ania and new 1st Degree Knight, Gui St. Germain, for lending their muscle and time!
As in years past, William E. Prentice Council 1429 continues its support of this very important festival each year. Seen leading the procession through the streets around our home base at Our Lady of Mercy church, is brother Knight Allan Mearns. Also representing the Council were Trustees Sean Jesso and David Rodrigues.
In co-ordination with the city-wide annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign, and in an effort to help fill two Sarnia Transit buses, Council 1429 joined their brothers in the St. Benedict’s Council initiative. Council members, led by Deputy Grand Knight Eric Madej and his wife Ania, cooked a BBQ lunch at the Superstore on Saturday July 7th 2018 (in exchange for donations of non-perishable foods and cash). Proceeds were donated to St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army. Thanks to Maria and Jim Lelliveld, Paul and David Rodrigues Dan Gimpel and John from the other council! 😉
