As in years past, William E. Prentice Council 1429 continues its support of this very important festival each year. Seen leading the procession through the streets around our home base at Our Lady of Mercy church, is Deacon Lyle LaLonge. Representing the Council were Sean Jesso, Maria and Jim Leliveld and David Rodrigues.
Working hard to Stuff the Bus, several Knights cooked for store goers at Food Basics to help fill two Sarnia Transit buses with non-perishable food items to be passed along to the Salvation Army and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Shoppers responded enthusiastically by donating generously, especially badly needed items like diapers, toilet paper, feminine products, canned fruit and peanut butter.
Over 12,200 pounds of food was collected for the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul Society, far surpassing last year’s total of about 10,000 pounds.
The two agencies will also share $1,667 in cash donations.
Another very successful fund raising event enjoyed by all who attended.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul will be the main beneficiary as will our Coats for Kids campaign.
Thanks to the advertisers and other donors of gift baskets, door and/or spot prizes. Advertisements received exposure to about 200 attendees through announcements and on the slide show as well as the program brochure which is available by clicking on the picture below:
We also have a Facebook presence where the event was publicized.

Keeping alive ex-principal Rob Cicchelli’s statement from four years ago, “The beginning of another “Irish” tradition“. Proceeds from this Pancake Tuesday fundraiser will be used to finance the Jim Lathem, Chaplaincy and other awards to deserving students who meet Council criteria of Christian principles. Thanks to all who helped out that day.
