RENEWAL OF WEDDING VOWS

KofC Certificate “Covenant of Renewal”

On Father’s Day, June 19, 2016, several couples at the churches of Our Lady of Mercy, St. Joseph’s and St. George participated by renewing their vows at mass. A reception was held after mass at the three churches during which Knights of Council 1429 handed out Certificates titled “A Covenant Renewed”. This event will be conducted each year.

It is important to celebrate the roles of parenthood within the Christian family and to celebrate and honor your marriage vows. Sponsoring this event serves to make our council visible to the parish community and to show our members’ support for all fathers, mothers, husbands and wives. During these events, Knights and their wives — along with all the married couples of the parish — have an opportunity to affirm their commitment to their wedding vows. After the event, council hosts a reception where they can congratulate each couple and thank them for their witness.

Working together with our pastors, we provide the opportunity for married couples to recall and affirm their wedding vows together with a special blessing during or after the liturgy.
